Energy Saving Windows
Improving the insulation in your home is the best way to make your home more energy efficient. One of the key ways to save this energy is through the installation of double glazing. Double glazing works by trapping air between two panes of glass, which creates an insulating barrier. This barrier reduces heat loss and, in most cases, reduces condensation on your windows. Double glazing will also help reduce noise pollution from the outside.
Good quality double glazed windows can save between £80 to £135 and 720kg of CO2 every year, not to mention adding real value to your property if you later choose to sell – especially with our transferable 10 year guarantee if you move, or Unique Lifetime Guarantee if you don’t. Window Energy Ratings
The U-value measures in Watts how well a building component, for example a wall, roof or a window, keeps heat inside a building. The higher the U-value, the more heat can escape through the component. The lower the U-value, the better the insulation being provided by the material.
Our standard window has a u-value of 1.4 (1.4Wm2k). This is the same u-value as our A-Rated window but without the added cost. We are, however, able to fully certify your windows to the A rating as an option if you require.
For reference, the U-value of a standard 9 inch cavity wall is around 2.0.
