Alexander Windows sales boss is ‘tackled pink’ at shirt acquisition

Alexander Windows sales and marketing director, Richard Robinson, was ‘tackled pink’ to dig deep into his company’s coffers recently when he donated £200 to Breast Cancer Care in return for a unique piece of rugby memorabilia.

Over the weekend of 19th and 20th April, six Guinness Premiership rugby matches were played with a ‘Pink’ theme in a bid to raise money for Breast Cancer Care; the UK’s leading provider of information, practical assistance and emotional support for anyone affected by breast cancer.

The weekend saw such occurrences as Saracens playing in a specially commissioned pink kit, while Edgeley Park side, Sale Sharks, played in shirts which featured a unique pink gill design.  The shirt worn by Sharks’ Spanish winger, Oriol Ripol, was put up for auction, with Richard outbidding numerous competitors to walk away with a special shirt signed by the entire Sale Sharks squad.

Richard comments:  “All too many people are affected either directly or indirectly by breast cancer and indeed, over the years, a number of our loyal customers have had their own courageous tales to tell.

“That kind of thing stays with you and we were keen to take the opportunity to support what has been a tremendous joint initiative from Premier Rugby and Breast Cancer Care.

“In donating the £200 to the charity, we have also acquired a piece of rugby history and we have been only too pleased to demonstrate our soft, pink feminine side in support of a very worthy cause.”

Louise Skinner, sporting events officer at Breast Cancer Care, was equally pleased to see Alexander Windows getting involved, commenting:  “It has been fantastic to raise the profile of the charity in this way and we have been delighted with the overall response.

“It is particularly gratifying when companies such as Alexander Windows lend their support and we are very grateful to Richard and his colleagues for their donation, which as with the many others we have had in conjunction with the ‘Tackled Pink’ weekend, will now be put to good use.”
